Troubleshooting Overview
This chapter offers some suggestions to solve problems you might encounter with CNC and CNA.
None of the CNA LEDs turn on.
Make sure that you have the power cord connected to the CNA and plugged in to an appropriate power source. Make sure you have the CNA turned on. Check all cable connections.
If the LEDs still do not turn on, you may have a hardware problem. In this case, you should contact your local customer support.
The CNA LAN LED does not turn on.
Check the Ethernet cable connection between the CNA and your network.
Disconnect the CNA and try again with a different Ethernet cable.
The CNA PWR LED is red.
The CNA has a power-related error. Disconnect and reconnect the power cord. Make sure that you are using the included power cord for the CNA and it is plugged into an appropriate power source.
If the LED is still red, you may have a hardware problem. In this case, you should contact your local customer support.
The CNA SYS LED is red.
The CNA has a system error. Disconnect and reconnect the power cord to reboot the CNA.
If the LED is still red, you may have a hardware problem. In this case, you should contact your local customer support.
The CNA SYS LED is blinking green.
The CNA is writing firmware to flash memory: do not turn off the CNA! This may take from ten to twenty minutes, so please wait. You can also check the firmware upgrade status from the CNC.
The CNA is disconnected from the CNC.
I cannot access myZyxel or the CNC portal.
Check that you are using the correct URLs:
myZyxel: https://portal.myzyxel.com
CNC: https://cnc.zyxel.com/
Make sure your computer’s Ethernet card is installed and functioning properly.
Check that you have Internet access. In your computer, click Start, (All) Programs, Accessories and then Command Prompt. In the Command Prompt window, type ‘ping’ followed by a website such as ‘zyxel.com’. If you get a reply try to ping ‘cnc.zyxel.com’.
Make sure you are using the correct web browser. Browsers supported are:
Firefox 36.0.1 or later
Chrome 41.0 or later
IE 10 or later
I cannot log into myZyxel or the CNC portal.
Open your web browser and go to https://portal.myzyxel.com. Sign in with the correct email and password. Click Not a Member Yet if you don't have a myZyxel account and create an account.
Then go to https://cnc.zyxel.com using a supported web browser.
I cannot see my CNA in the CNC Overview.
Make sure that you have registered your CNA at myZyxel.
Make sure that you have activated your CNA at myZyxel.
Check that the license has not expired.
I cannot see my devices in the CNC Site View.
At the time of writing, in order for managed devices to display in the Site View after you log into CNC for the first time, you must set a discovery range for managed devices in Admin > Discover Nodes. Choose specific IP addresses and/or IP address ranges then click Discover. Wait two to six minutes for discovered devices to appear in the Site View menu.
Make sure that the Internet gateway device (such as a broadband modem or router) in the CNA network is working properly.
See the Zyxel website for the supported model list of Zyxel devices supported by the CNC.
One of my devices in the CNC Site View is down (red Status).
Go to the Events menu and click the related Event ID for more details on the problem.
Check that the device is turned on and is in the same IP routing domain as the CNA for this site.
A managed device in my network fails.
1 Connect a replacement device to the CNA Service port.
2 Go to the CNC portal and select your CNA in Overview.
3 The replacement device displays at the top of the Site View. Click System Name to see the Auto-Restore Device screen.
4 Auto-Restore will automatically update the replacement device’s firmware to be the same as the failed device’s (if it’s older). Select a configuration (see the configuration backup time) and click Restore next to it to install that configuration to the replacement device. Click OK to confirm installation.
5 An Auto-Restore Progress bar appears. Wait for the installation to complete.
6 After the installation has completed you may disconnect the replacement device from the Service port of the CNA and deploy it back in your network where the failed device was.
I can only see newer backup configurations.
CNC can store up to ten backup configurations. When a backup reaches ten, the next new backup automatically overwrites the oldest existing backup.
I cannot upload firmware to a device using CNC.
Go to the Events menu and click the related Event ID for more details on the problem.
Check that the device is turned on and is in the same IP routing domain as the CNA for this site.
Check that you are uploading the correct firmware for this model. The firmware version is in ‘trunk-version(model-code.release#)’ format. For example, V4.11(AAHY.1) means that the firmware trunk version is 4.11, AAHY identifies the NWA5123-NI model and .1 is the second firmware release (.0 is the first) for this model. Cross-check that the firmware version model code is the same as the model code on the device label.
Firmware to multiple models of the same type can be uploaded at the same time. Make sure that all models are of the same type.
